(NEWS OUT OF ST. VINCENT & THE GRENADINES) Fireman Hooper Will Be Representing St. Vincent & The Grenadines In Trinidad’s International Soca Monarch 2012

The finalists for the International Soca Monarch Competition 2012 have been selected and Delroy “Fireman” Hooper will be the lone ranger representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines in that competition. There was a possibility of three Vincentian artistes making it to the finals; however Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle and Laurence “Coyaba” Jack failed to make it through the semifinal round of the competition when it took place last Sunday at the Arima Velodrome in Trinidad & Tobago.

Doyle, who placed 2nd in the National Soca Monarch here, last year, participated in the Groovy Soca category of the competition performing his song called “6:30”, while Jack took part in the Power Soca category with his hit song “Grandpa Cocoa”, which has been making waves in Trinidad and Tobago recently.

It is now left up to Hooper to represent this country on his own in a highly competitive arena, with a wealth of quality artistes including Defending champion Machel Montano. Hooper, who earned the right to represent this country by winning the National Soca Monarch last year, will perform the song ‘Animal’ and is very confident of making a good showing for himself and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The International Soca Monarch Finals will take place on the 17th February 2012.
